By Tim Lee Jul 26, 2023 | 7:01 PM

Kathy L. Franks, age 62, died Monday, July 24, 2023 at CGH Medical Center, Sterling surrounded by family.

Kathy was born on November 27, 1960 in Sterling, the daughter of Robert and Joyce (Mammosser) McCloud.  She attended Rock Falls High School where she met her high school sweetheart.  She married Thomas Franks on June 11, 1977 in Rock Falls.   They were married 46 years.  She spent her entire life helping people.  Her most rewarding career was as a child advocate, as she loved helping children and families.  Kathy was a real people person.  She never met a person that wasn’t her friend instantly.   Kathy’s huge heart was showcased in her love of animals and life rescuing dogs.  Kathy loved music, dancing, bingeing true crime shows, and spending time with her friends and family. She was a life-long Green Bay Packers fan – cheering on her team every Sunday.  Kathy was known for her “bling”, sparkle, and creative nail designs.  More than anything, her larger than life personality taught us all to live life unapologetically as your one true self.

Survivors include her mother, Joyce Collin of Holladay, TN; step father, Paul Burall of Rock Falls; her husband, Thomas Franks of Rock Falls; one son, Thomas (Caryn Runowiecki) Franks II of Sycamore; three sisters, Pamela (Richard) Mammosser-Bradford of Columbia, MO, Cindy (Brad) Pursell of Tipton, IA and Leanne (Michael) Schumacher of Rock Falls; two brothers, Michael (Holly) McCloud of Clinton, IA and Paul (Barbara) Burall of Southgate, MI; two chosen grandsons Roman and Riley Runowiecki of Sycamore; numerous nieces and nephews; and her loyal companions Walter and Peanut.

The family thanks the exceptional care Kathy received from the staff and volunteers at CGH Medical Center during the time of her illness.

Gathering of family and friends will be from 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM Friday, July 28, 2023 at the McDonald Funeral Home in Rock Falls.  Memorial service will follow at 1:00 PM with Pastor Dalmus Meeks officiating.

In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established.
