Dixon Police Departments New Therapy Dog Indy Fitting Into Her New Home

By Tim Lee May 8, 2024 | 7:24 PM

Dixon Police Departments new member, Therapy Dog Indy, seems to be fitting into her job very well.

Her handler, Officer Ryan McWethy says Indy is something new for the police department.  He says in his regular job as the resource officer at Reagan Middle School he has noticed he and Indy have become rather popular.

Indy is used to help the police department during interviews with kids who may be victims of abuse.  On the other hand, she can be there for victims of other traumatic events.

Studies have shown that people are calmed down by the presence of the dog and are more willing to speak about what has happened.
