The Rock Falls City Council opened their meeting last Tuesday night with a swearing in ceremony of their newest Police Officer Devin Teske. According to Police Chief David Pilgrim Teske is the 21st officer on the force with a full squad at 22.

Next, the council approved the appointment of Second Ward Alderman Brian Snow as Mayor Pro-Tem for a one-year term.

City Manager Robbin Blackert spoke of the new establishment of the Whiteside County Enterprise Zone.

Blackert went on to say that originally it was thought that 30 acres of land by the interstate was part of the Enterprise Zone formed in 2018-19 but a clerical omission left the land out. Now, all municipalities in Whiteside and Carroll counties will be passing this amended ordinance.

In other news, a carnival business license was approved allowing St. Andrew School to hold a carnival on May 16-19. The council also approved the purchase of a 2024 Ford Explorer XLT for $40,000 thousand dollars from Kunes Ford of Sterling.
