The City of Dixon is hoping to strike it rich with a couple of big grants the city is trying for.

City Manager Dan Langloss gave an update to the council about the grants.  The city has applied for a $31 million grant in conjunction with IDOT said Langloss.

The main portion of that grant is the rebuilding of South Galena Avenue from 7th street to Kuel Road.  The new roadway would also have bike path that would lead out to the Industrial Park.

The city portion is $3.7 million and the reconstruction of Bloody Gulch Road.  This would turn that road into a three-lane roadway with bike path.

The other grant is $8 million for the 4-acre retention pond by Fargo creek and the pathway from Dement Town to it.  Langloss said they would work with the Park District as well as stock the pond for fishing.
