Charles W. “Ed” Retherford, age 85, died Sunday, July 23, 2023 at Carle Methodist Hospital in Peoria.
Ed was born on April 22, 1938 in Carrollton the son of James and Doris (Taylor) Retherford. He married Edith Thompson on May 20, 1983 in Sterling. Ed love to racoon hunt in his younger days. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinal fan, NASCAR fan and enjoyed making solar lights.
Survivors include his wife Edith of Rock Falls; one daughter, Penny Retherford; three step-daughters, Darla Kendall, Trina (Eric) Portner both of Rock Falls and Kim (Rex) Gaumer of Sterling; one step-son, Robert (Viktoriia) Foy of Parsons, TN; one sister, Carol Wilson of Carrollton; several grandchildren; several great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Lonnie Retherford; two sisters, three brothers.
Cremations rites have been accorded. There are no services. There will be a Celebration of Life at a later date. Arrangements were completed by the McDonald Funeral Home in Rock Falls.
