Maureen L Nichols age 76 of Dixon died Wednesday July 12, 2023 at Dixon Healthcare and Rehab. in Dixon.
She was born Nov. 29, 1946 in Dixon the daughter of Charles and Helen (O’Malley) Doyle. Maureen graduated from St. Mary Grade School in Dixon and Newman High School in Sterling. She received her bachelor’s degree in Applied Music from Loretto Heights College in Denver CO.
Maureen served as church organist at St. Patrick Church in Dixon and was music director at St. Anne Church in Dixon for 14 years. She started the Resurrection Choirs at both St. Patricks and St. Annes.
Maureen also graduated from SVCC as an LPN and worked at Lee County Nursing Home, KSB Hospital and Dixon Health Care and Rehab. She completed her chaplains training at Rockford Memorial Hospital and worked for Visiting Nurses Hospice in Rockford as lead chaplain.
Maureen is survived by her sons Charles Nichols of Sterling and Joshua (Misty) Nichols of Sterling, 7 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, and brother Terry (Sally) Doyle of Sussex, WI.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Mary Doyle. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Tuesday July 18, 2023 at 11:00 AM at St. Anne Catholic Church in Dixon.
Visitation will be on Tuesday July 18, 2023 from 10:00 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM at the church. Cremation will follow with a burial of cremains at a later date at Oakwood Cemetery in Dixon.
