Ukrainian firefighter’s came to Amboy recently from the Ukrainian city of Kharkiv. The premise of their visit comes from gratitude for Fire Chief Jeff Bryant’s role in securing fire service equipment to donate to Ukraine firefighters on the frontlines. To date, nearly 5 million dollars of fire service equipment and PPE has been donated.
The group also visited the Sterling Fire Department to thank them for their donation of items, equipment and one of the department’s fire trucks. A couple of the members of the Sterling City Council were also there to meet the visitors from Ukraine.
Chief Dettman said they are working to donate more equipment and medical supplies to Ukraine. The Sauk Valley is not the only place the Ukrainian firefighters are visiting. In the coming week, these three representatives will travel to New York to further their US rounds.
