During the Rock Falls City Council meeting Tuesday night there was a great deal of trash talking.
The council members were asked to accept or decline a bid with a new company to take care of the city solid waste and recycling. The city currently has a contract with Republic Services. This lasts for just over one year.
City Administrator said now is the time to look for a new company because the reason they want someone else is city is not happy with all the complaints the city gets from residents.
The council, on a 6-2 vote, approved the bid with Midwest Disposal from Dixon. They would take over on July 1 of 2025. Blackert said Midwest would be working with the city over the next year. They also need the time to get the additional trucks and equipment to handle the Rock Falls Garbage pickup.
