Graduation Ceremony will be held at Sauk Valley Community College in a couple of weeks.
For the past few years, one person has been presented with an Honorary Degree. This year’s recipient will be Linda Giesen. Dr. Lori Cortez said Giesen has done so much for the community, the state and for the college
Giesen and her husband donated to the school the 100-year old Illinois Law Library. During her 11-year career in the Department of Corrections, she was the first woman to be Warden of an all-male institute when she became Warden of the Dixon Correctional Facility.
From 1986-1992, Giesen was the Assistant Professor of Criminology at Sauk Valley College. From 2000 to 2004, she was the Lee County States Attorney.
