Playing Basketball at New Vaile Park Courts May Have a Bright Future

If you and your friends enjoy playing basketball, you may be able to play in the evening hours and not stop when it gets dark.

During the recent Dixon Park Board meeting, Executive Director of the Park District, Duane Long informed the council that they would have extra money from the OSLAD Grant because the cost of the renovation of the basketball courts at Vaile Park is less than expected.

How the grant works is if you have money left over, that money is sent back to the state.  The district is looking at adding lights to the basketball courts so kids could play in the evening.

Long said the lights would not bleed into the neighbor’s area.  The system would be just that at the pickle ball courts where someone presses a button and the lights come on.  After 10:00 PM, the lights would go off.

Long said there is no guarantee this would happen, but they are bidding it out, just in case they could do it.
