This Saturday the Oregon Park District Will Host the Second Annual Pelican Watch

Spring means a journey north for thousands of birds from tiny songbirds to massive pelicans.  Many birds make several rest stops along the way, and Oregon Park East is an ideal stopping point for water-loving birds like the American White Pelican.

The dam creates a disturbance in the Rock River that makes for easy fishing, and the gentle shorelines on the Rock River islands are a perfect spot to rest.

Oregon Park District is getting a front-row seat to this year’s migration with the second annual Pelican Watch on Saturday, April 20 from 8-11 am on the Park East observation deck.

Oregon Park District will have binoculars available for use and educational activities for the young and the young at heart.  There will also be free coffee while it lasts.
