Thursday morning the attire at the Whiteside County Health Department in Rock Falls included green vests and blue hard hats to go along with shovels. It was the official groundbreaking of the renovation, expansion and improvement plan for the department.
Director Cheryl Lee said they did not expect the work to begin so soon, but with the good weather, they were able to get a jump on things. They now hope to have the project completed by the fall.
The work consists of the expansion of a couple of departments as well as the addition of an optometry department. The front would see a covered drop off and pick up area as well as new flooring and other improvements.
Lee said many people are very excited about what is happening at the Whiteside County Health Department.
