Most of the time we hear about drones being used by first responders.  They can also provide a birds eye view for people to see things and events.

However, a new way they are being used is as a sport.  The sport is called Drone Soccer.  Students from Reagan Middle School and Dixon High School participate on their drone soccer teams.  Dixon is one of the few schools in Illinois that have a team.

These students are on an adventure as they are in Virginia for the National Championship says Superintendent Margo Empen.

How do you play drone Soccer.  Players are in a cage and each team have a drone with a red flag.  That is the only drone that can score by going through the hoop.  The other team would try to keep that from happening.

This can mean there are some good crashes at time.  Afterwards the students can repair their drone.  The teams will return on Sunday.
