The Oregon City Council met in session last Tuesday night and heard a presentation from Mike Bowers who along with Roger Cain have put together signs to go up at the historic Phelps Kitchen and Benesh Bench.

Both metal signs will feature photos and a brief history about the tourist attractions. The final renderings were presented to the council who approved the signage.

Mayor Ken Williams talked about the continued strides that are being made in regard to the Economic and Community Development including housing and tourism.

Williams went on to say that he, along with other city representatives will be heading to Rockford next week to see their housing plans in action in hopes of incorporating some of the ideas in Oregon.

In other news, City Manager Darin DeHaan discussed with the council whether to change a current ordinance on the books in regard to placing leaf bags in the street for pickup. One resident in particular continues to have an issue with this. The council chose to leave the ordinance as is.

DeHaan shared that he researched other municipalities and couldn’t find anything on the books to compare it to. Currently, residents are allowed to place their trash and leaf bags in the street although the leaf bags can sit for several days before pickup.
