Sunday at Dixon High School, it will be the end of an era.  Not only will it be the time when students of the class of 2022 receive their diploma, it will also be the last time High School Principal Dr. Michael Grady will be handing them out.

After 31 years with the Dixon School District Grady is retiring from the place he has spent over half of his life.  Grady said after he retires he will spend time with his wife, do some traveling and working on the farm, but he will still miss it.

Grady said he could not have lasted 31 years without the help and support of the faculty, staff and the school administration.  He called Margo Empen the best superintendent a teacher could have.  He mostly wanted to thank the students, parents and community for their support throughout this time.

As for his replacement, Grady feels Jared Shaner will do a great job.  He said Shaner has a great work ethic and is at the school for the right reason and that is he cares about the kids.  The only advice he gave to Shaner was be yourself.
