When the Dixon School District purchased the former Nachusa Home, which is now called the Dempsey Therapeutic Daycare, they knew they had quite a bit of work to do.
Dixon School Superintendent Margo Empen said crews had to tear the building down to the studs in order to make the school compliant for the state codes. As Empen called it, they are building the school from the ground up.
At the most recent Board of Education meeting, Empen spoke of ordering all of the needed furniture as well as deciding on the colors to be used.
Empen called it important to have equity when it comes to all of the schools. This means each student having what is needed.
