The death of an Oregon woman is being investigation by the Ogle County Sheriff

Oregon, Illinois (WTVO) — Police in Ogle County are looking into the death of an Oregon Elementary School staffer.

On Monday night, Oregon School Superintendent PJ Caposey wrote to parents, “It is with a heavy heart that I share the tragic news that Jill Bier, a staff member at Oregon Elementary School, has passed away.” We’ve been working closely with the Ogle County Sheriff’s Department since Friday, and we got confirmation earlier today that we could share this information with our employees and family.

“We understand that this loss will affect many of our students, and we are committed to providing support for them at school tomorrow. Counselors and staff will be ready to assist students with their emotions, whether they require a quiet area, someone to chat to, or simply extra comfort throughout the day,” Caposey stated.

Counselors were made accessible to students and staff on Tuesday.

At 9:59 a.m. on Friday, the Ogle County Sheriff’s Office reported locating a deceased person in the 4000 block of E. IL Route 64.

The Illinois State Police Crime Scene, the Office of the Illinois Fire Marshal, the Ogle County Coroner’s Office, and the Peoria County Medical Examiner all helped with the investigation.

“While the investigation remains ongoing, search warrants, interviews, and an autopsy have taken place since the initial call, which leads us to believe no danger to the public exists,” according to the sheriff’s office.
