Things are warming up, and people are starting to think about outside activities like basketball and baseball.
Duane Long, Executive Director of Dixon Park District, stated that one outdoor winter amenity was actually busy this year. Long stated that they had approximately three weeks available for ice skating at the arena.
Long had assumed that the ice skating rink would be closed for the season in February. Then came a cold front, which dropped temperatures in the Sauk Valley to below freezing. As a result, the district was able to keep the rink open for extended periods.
The rink is free to the public, with free skates and other activities available.
