After driving both directions incorrectly, a driver was arrested for DUI

On Sunday, March 9, Ogle County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the area of S. Ridge Road and Pines Road after receiving a report of a vehicle going northbound on Ridge Road in the southbound lane.

It was also stated that the vehicle was going in and out of ditches, forcing other drivers to quit the road to prevent being hit. The car was claimed to have turned around and was now driving south on Ridge Road in the northbound lane.

The vehicle was located by deputies near the 2,000 block of S. Ridge Road. The motorist went south in the northbound lane, ignoring the squad car behind them. The automobile entered the ditch and came to a rest in the 2,900 block.

Following an investigation, 66-year-old Kathy A. Brooks of Kings was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol. She was also accused for illegally transporting alcohol and improper lane use.

Brooks was transferred to the Ogle County Jail for processing before being released with a court appearance for later this month.
