Tigers end their basketball season at Marengo on Friday

Despite Rock Falls’ January 4th loss to the Princeton Tigers, the outcome of their Sectional Title game in Marengo on Friday night was different. According to our Brandon LaChance, the lead changed hands six times during the first quarter. At the half, Jason Smith’s Tigers were behind three points.

The Tigers tied the game at 44 late in the fourth quarter despite Zach Sandrock’s Rockets double-teaming Noah LaPorte in the second half. Rock Falls won 49–43 thanks to a few steals in the closing minutes and a spectacular finish at the charity stripe.

For the Tigers, Noah LaPorte scored 19. Jordan Reinhardt scored 18 points, three of which came from 3-point range.

Before going on a 12-game winning streak, the Tigers were 9–12 at one point this season. Their season ends with a score of 21–13. At 7 p.m. on Monday, Rock Falls will play Chicago Christ the King at the Sterling Super-Sectional.
