The Sterling Fire Department has an issue. They just informed the City Council that all of their vehicles will need to be replaced, and a strategy must be developed.
During the City Council meeting this past Monday, Deputy Fire Chief David Northcutt informed the members that the department intends to purchase a new aerial fire engine. It’s called a King Cobra.
Northcutt informed the council that they have multiple vehicles that need to be replaced, but the aerial truck is the top priority.
The very huge truck costs $1.9 million. The department believes that the sale of the old aerial truck will generate $500,000 to cover the cost of the brand-new truck.
The remainder would be drawn from the Capital Reserve Fund. The City Council will make a decision at its next meeting.
