Rock Falls Police Sign a New Four Year Contract

Many local police departments are getting fewer people coming forward to be police officers.

As Rock Falls City Administrator Robbin Blackert put it, people are not beating down the door to become police officers.  However, she did say they receive more applications than they have in some time.

After the most recent Rock Falls City Council meeting, the city and the police department union agreed on a new four-year contract.  Blackert said it is important to try to stay competitive and keep as many officers as they can.

The four-year deal givers pay increases of 6% the first two-years and 5% the final two-years.  Blackert said the department is more than half-lateral officers.  This means they came from other departments
