When you drive into the Oregon area, the community is lined with trees.  The natural beauty is something the city values very highly.  The value is so high that they began several years ago to get the designation of Tree City USA.

That goal has been reached.  According to City Manager Darin DeHaan, he was contacted recently with the news.  DeHaan says it has been a long process as  one of the requirements was a plan to plant more trees in town.  DeHaan said that is in the plans for Oregon.

The city also had to create a tree board, which was founded a few months ago.  DeHaan sees the designation as something for the city to be proud of.

He went to say the trees not only are beautiful to look at, but to enhance the quality of life.  During the City Council meeting Tuesday night, a plaque was given to the city for achieving the Tree City USA designation.
