The Rock Falls City Council met last Tuesday night and City Clerk Pam Martinez read a proclamation stating October as Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Mayor Ron Kleckler presented the proclamation to Jill Sander McFall, Domestic Violence Program Manager for the YWCA of the Sauk Valley.

Next, there was a presentation delivered by the Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police Executive Director Kenny Winslow, who presented Rock Falls Police Chief a plaque for completing his certification. Pilgrim explained the process that said 5 months to complete. After submitting an application, there is rigorous training, a 100-question exam, and a review board that asked very job specific questions.

Winslow went on to say that Pilgrim put in the hard work and became the 63rd certified Chief in Illinois. Currently, there are 168 Chiefs across the U.S.

In other news, City Administrator Robbin Blackert told the council that the bid process will be waived upon their approval for the RB&W District Park Control Room and new toilets project. The award goes to Gensini Excavating out of Princeton IL. in the amount of $839, 985 dollars, which is $400,000 thousand under the original bid. Blackert hopes that some excavating work can begin this month.
