Don R. Wiemken

Don R. Wiemken, age 89, died at his home on Sunday, May 7, 2023.

Don was born on December 8, 1933 in Rock Falls the son of Forest and Ruby (Heller) Wiemken.  He married Ida Mae Houpt on July 2, 1985 in Royce City, TX.  She died November 16, 2017.  Don was a Furnace Repairman with Northwestern Steel & Wire in Sterling retiring in 1989. He was a member of Harvest Time Bible Church in Rock Falls. Don served in his country in the United States Navy during the Korean War.

Survivors include, two daughters, Christa (Allen) Hicks and Doris (William) Crews; two sons, Forest (Donna) Wiemken and Howard (Barbara) Wiemken; two step-daughters, Diane (Terry) VanLaninghama and Denise (Steve Leathers) Schommer; step daughter in law Beverly Schommer; two step-sons, Darrell Schommer and Don (Amanda) Schommer; one sister, Janet Varner; one brother, James (Jan) Wiemken; seventeen grandchildren; twenty-three great grandchildren; nine great, great grandchildren. Loved by many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Judy Weigel; one son, Alan Wiemken; two brothers, Glen and DeWayne Wiemken; step-son, Duane Schommer; step-son in law, Harold VanLaningham; great grandson Peter Miller and great granddaughter, Erica Kerley.

Visitation will be from 10:00 – 11:00 AM Friday May 12, 2023 at the McDonald Funeral Home, Rock Falls.  Funeral service will be at 11:00 AM with Pastor Jason Borton of Harvest Time Bible Church officiating. Burial with military rites will follow at Oak Knoll Memorial Park, Sterling.

In lieu flowers a memorial has been established.
