Dixon Team Shrinkage Brings Home the Trophy Again for the 2023 Polar Plunge for Illinois Special Olympics

There have been times when it was bitter cold and other times it was as it was this past Saturday with warmer and comfortable weather.  It does not matter what the weather is like, the Polar Plunge still goes on and teams still run into the very cold water of the lake at Rock Cut State Park and take the plunge.

For Thirteen years, a group of Fire and Police Personnel who call themselves Team Shrinkage, have taken the plunge to help raise money for the Illinois Special Olympics.  Deputy Police Chief Matt Richards heads up the group and he said the weather this past Saturday was great compared to other years.

Richards said they were able to get a new person to join the team this year.  Police Chief Steve Howell said he had a lot of fun.

For the past several years, Team Shrinkage of Dixon has brought home the trophy for raising the most money of a team in the Service Division.  The trophy will stay in Dixon as they raised over $7,000 for Illinois Special Olympics.
