The Dixon Board of Education on Wednesday night, approved the recommendation to hire Roger Fegan as the new Athletic Director.
Fegan is currently the head baseball coach at Highland Community College. Fegan says, “This is something I’ve always wanted to do in my career. I’ve been a head coach, I’ve been a teacher and now its time to serve in a different capacity and lead an athletic department.”
Fegan is a graduate of Reed-Custer High School and played four years of baseball at Concordia University Chicago. He’s been a teacher at Freeport High School for the past 13 years and was the head baseball coach for 7 of those years. He’s also married with two daughters.
He will officially take over as Athletic Director on July 1st. Current Dixon High School Athletic Director Jared Shaner will be stepping down to take over as Principal in July, for the retiring Dr. Michael Grady. Shaner had been the school’s Athletic Director since 2016.
